Dispatch Center: using the dispatch board

Last updated 2026-10-15

Drag cards across the four columns, open an order to see smart recommendations, and dispatch manually, automatically, or by tender.

The Dispatch Center is the dispatcher’s cockpit: the left side is the four-column board (Pending dispatch · Dispatched awaiting confirm · In transit · Exceptions), the right side slides open with the order detail, smart recommendations, and tender status.

The four columns#

  • Pending dispatch: orders ready for a truck. Click a card to open the drawer, or drag it to the next column to start assigning.
  • Dispatched · awaiting confirm: pre-assigned or dispatched, waiting for the driver/carrier to accept. A card stuck here too long turns into a confirm-timeout exception.
  • In transit: the truck is moving (picked up / in transit / out for delivery).
  • Exceptions: anything that needs a human — rejections, breakdowns, late warnings, address errors. Dragging a card here opens the report-exception dialog.

Three ways to dispatch#

  1. Manual: pick a recommendation → Pre-assign (locks the order and the truck, McLeod-style) → Confirm dispatch (notifies the driver). The lock stops anyone from double-assigning the same order.
  2. Auto: one click — the system takes the top recommendation and dispatches. If auto dispatch fails, it falls back to manual so you never lose the order.
  3. Tender: send the load to several carriers — sequential (one by one, N minutes each) or blast (all at once, first to accept wins). Track who accepted/declined, the price and the time, then award and dispatch.
Own fleet vs external carriers: recommendations are always shown in two columns — 🚛 My fleet (own) on the left, 🤝 External carriers on the right. Own trucks cost $0 marginal and are ranked first when they fit.
