Routing Center: one-click optimization and drag-and-drop

Last updated 2026-10-16

How the PDPTW routing engine plans delivery+pickup routes in ~8 seconds, and how to fine-tune by dragging stops between vehicles.

Routing Center has the pending pool on the left and the route canvas on the right. Select orders, pick drivers/vehicles, then hit [One-click smart routing]. The engine (Solomon insertion + ALNS improvement, pickup-delivery pairs, LIFO loading check) returns in about 8 seconds: routes are created, and unassigned orders list their reason (time-window conflict, over capacity).

Capacity is checked in two exact dimensions: total weight ≤ the vehicle’s max_weight_kg and total volume ≤ max_volume_m3. Each stop’s demand = pieces × per-piece weight/volume (entered on the order). Orders without per-piece values are estimated as pieces × your policy default (1.0 kg / 0.05 m³ unless you change it in the routing policy).

Drag-and-drop tuning#

  • Drag a stop card from one vehicle to another: the system re-estimates ETA live and blocks the drop (red flash) if a time window would be missed or a pickup-delivery pair would be split.
  • Reorder stops inside a route with ↑↓: the mileage/time delta shows live (“+2.3km, +8 min”).
  • Completed stops are locked and cannot be dragged.

Pickup + delivery in one route#

Pickup stops use a blue 📦 icon, deliveries a green 📬 icon, and paired pickup-delivery orders are linked with a dashed line. The engine enforces the loading rule: a pickup’s goods may never block a later delivery (LIFO), so the sequence it produces is always loadable.

Two optimization modes: Smart (PDPTW engine, ~8 s, best quality) and Quick (nearest-neighbor, milliseconds, for small tweaks). Tenants can switch per dispatch.
