Course categories and learning paths: find courses by area, follow your path
Courses are organized in a two-level category tree (system area → module). Browse by category on the Courses page — empty categories never show. "My learning path" groups your required courses by area with your progress. Admins assign each course one primary category plus tags, and can move courses in bulk.
When your course list grows, scrolling a flat list stops working. Categories give every course a home: a top level for the system area (WMS, OMS, Integration, Reports…) and a second level for the module or topic (Packing Station, Zone Picking, Billing Basics…). Each course has exactly one primary category, plus any number of tags.
For learners: browse by category#
On the Courses page, switch to "Browse by category". You will only see areas and modules that actually have courses — empty categories are hidden automatically, so the list never shows dead ends. Tap a top-level area to see all its courses, or a module to narrow down. The category also appears on each course card, next to the system label.
For learners: My learning path#
Switch to "My learning path" to see only the courses your position requires, grouped by area, each with your progress and its deadline. The role chips at the top (Operator, Supervisor…) show which roles your path covers — a course can serve several roles at once, because roles are tags, not separate copies of the course. Deadlines and the overdue rules work exactly as described in "Job requirements".
For admins: assign categories and tags#
- Open Academy → "Category management". The left side is the category tree with course counts on every node; the right side lists the courses under the node you pick.
- To file a course: pick its primary category in the row (one only — the course files under exactly one module), and add tags in the tags box: role tags say who should take it, topic tags say what it is about (Zone Picking, Will Call…). Changes save as you pick.
- Moving many courses at once: tick the courses, choose a target category next to "Move selected to", and tap "Move". Handy when a module is reorganized.
- The category tree itself is maintained centrally by the Docklify platform team, so every organization uses the same areas and modules. If you need a new module added, contact support — your own courses can be assigned and tagged at any time.
How categories, tags and requirements fit together#
Think of it as three different questions. Category answers "where does this course live?" (one answer). Tags answer "who is it for, and what is it about?" (several answers). Job requirements answer "who must finish it, by when?" — and requirements can now be generated from role tags in one click (see "Job requirements"), so a well-tagged catalog turns into ready-made learning paths.
