Driver App: voice announcement settings

Last updated 2026-10-15

Turn announcements on/off, pick all or critical-only mode, adjust speed and volume, choose a language, and test the voice — all free and offline.

Voice announcements use the phone's built-in text-to-speech — zero cost and it works offline (tunnels, mountains, no signal). Open More → Voice announcements to configure. The phone speaks navigation turns, new assignments, time-window and HOS warnings, and dispatcher messages so your eyes stay on the road.

Master switch and mode#

  • Master switch: turns all voice announcements on or off.
  • All: every announcement. Critical only: only urgent (red) and important (yellow) ones — the default, to avoid noise. Mute: no voice, banners only.

Speed, volume, language#

  • Speed: 0.5x–2.0x slider, default 1.0x.
  • Volume: 0–100, independent of media volume. Between 22:00 and 06:00 the volume drops 30% automatically.
  • Language: Follow app (default) or pick one of the six languages manually.

External navigation and categories#

  • Use external navigation: turn-by-turn goes to Google/Apple/Waze; this app then only announces business items (assignments, warnings, dispatch messages).
  • Category switches: navigation / tasks / warnings / dispatch — turn a whole group on or off. Expand "per-scenario switches" to control each of the 19 announcements individually.

Test and first-time unlock#

Tap the Test button (🔊) to hear a sample with your current settings. On iPhones, the browser requires one tap before any voice can play — the Test button (or any check-in button) performs that unlock, so tap it once when you start your shift.

Settings are saved on the phone instantly and work offline — they don't need a signal to take effect.
