Drayage orders (DRY-): create a container move
Import pull, export return, empty return, or chassis reposition — every order needs a merchant (cargo owner), locations, and container details.
A drayage order (DRY-) is one container move: somebody needs a box picked up somewhere and delivered somewhere else. You create it whenever there is a job to run — a quote may come first, but it is optional.
The 4 move types#
- Import pull — pick up a loaded container at the terminal and deliver it (often to a customer warehouse).
- Export return — pick up a loaded container at the shipper and return it to the terminal before the cutoff.
- Empty return — return an empty container to the depot or terminal.
- Chassis reposition — move a chassis between yards (no container involved).
Create the order in 6 steps#
- Pick the move type (import / export / empty_return / chassis_repo).
- Enter pickup and delivery locations — pick from the address book (terminals, warehouses, customers) or type them in.
- Fill in container details: container number, size/type, seal number, vessel + voyage, terminal.
- Select the merchant (cargo owner) — required on every order.
- Optionally add the customer, appointment time, and detention rate (USD per hour).
- Optionally pre-fill a driver and chassis — only an availability check at this point, they get locked at dispatch.
Order status flow#
A new order starts as a draft. It can go through a quote (quoted) or be dispatched straight from draft. Drivers advance it through picked_up → delivering → completed; completed orders are manually moved to invoiced when the invoice goes out. Cancelled orders stay cancelled.
