Language settings: display language vs data language

Last updated 2026-10-27

Display language switches all on-screen text and can be changed any time. Data language decides what language built-in data (reason codes, statuses, document templates) uses — it is set at tenant creation and locked afterwards.

Open Admin → Organization settings. The market basics — default language, base currency, document date format, timezone and unit system — are kept in the Organization card on the left, in one place. The Regional & document settings card next to it holds the data language and the industry profile.

Display language: change it any time#

Display language switches the language of all on-screen text (menus, buttons, page titles). New users without a language choice start with the tenant’s display language. You can change it any time — nothing else is affected.

Data language: set once, then locked#

Data language decides what language the built-in data uses: reason codes, statuses, document templates and other seeded reference data. It is chosen on the New Tenant form (default English) and cannot be changed afterwards — the setting shows as read-only and the API rejects any attempt to change it.

Pick the data language carefully at tenant creation — it is permanent. If you onboard a Spanish-speaking operation, set it to Spanish on day one.

The other settings on this page#

  • Base currency (Organization card): invoices without a merchant currency use this.
  • Document date format (Organization card): generated documents use this date format.
  • Timezone (Organization card): Drayage free days left are counted in calendar days of this timezone.
  • Unit system (Organization card): imperial (lb · in · °F) or metric (kg · cm · °C) — used wherever weights and sizes are shown.
  • Industry profile: controls which industry-specific field groups appear (e.g. food / cold-chain fields).
  • Brand logo (Brand card on this page): upload your organization logo here and it can appear in the header of documents such as A4 packing lists. A client’s own logo (set on the client’s page) takes priority; if neither side has a logo, documents print with no brand image at all — never a placeholder.
