Connect Shopify: pull orders in, push fulfillment out

Last updated 2026-11-01

Create a custom app in Shopify Admin, paste the Admin API token into Integration, test, map, activate — orders flow in and fulfillment flows back.

The Shopify connector pulls orders from your Shopify store into OMS, and pushes inventory and fulfillment back to Shopify. One connection per store: each store has its own token.

Shopify connection steps: credentials first, then test, then mapping, then activate.

Prerequisites#

  • A Shopify store on any plan, with Admin access.
  • Permission to create custom apps in that store.
  • Use a test / development store first for the first connection — never test mapping on a live store.
  1. Go to Shopify Dev Dashboard (dev.shopify.com) → your app → API credentials.
  2. Copy the Client ID and the Client Secret. The secret is shown once — save it somewhere safe.
  3. Make sure the app has the API scopes the connector needs: read_orders, read_products, read_inventory, write_inventory, read_fulfillments, write_fulfillments.

Get your credentials — old model (custom app token)#

  1. In Shopify Admin, go to Settings → Apps → Develop apps → Create an app.
  2. Under Admin API integration, grant the scopes the connector needs: read_orders, read_products, read_inventory, write_inventory, read_fulfillments, write_fulfillments.
  3. Install the app, then copy the Admin API access token. It starts with shpat_.
The Admin API token is shown once. If you lose it, uninstall and reinstall the app to get a new one — the old token stops working.
New token model (Dev Dashboard apps): Shopify no longer issues permanent shpat_ tokens. Fill in Client ID + Client Secret instead (Dev Dashboard → your app → API credentials) — the system exchanges them for a 24-hour access token automatically and refreshes it in the background. Connections that already store a shpat_ token keep working.

Fill it into Integration#

  1. Open Integration → Connector Marketplace → Shopify → New connection.
  2. Shop domain: your store domain, e.g. your-store.myshopify.com.
  3. Credentials — pick one of the two models. New model (recommended): Client ID + Client Secret from Dev Dashboard → your app → API credentials; the system exchanges them for a 24-hour token automatically. Old model: Admin API access token (shpat_) from a custom app. Either way the secret is encrypted at rest and never echoed back.

Test the connection#

Test runs two levels: connectivity (token works) and a document-level preview (pull one real order and show platform fields → standard order side by side). If the store has no orders yet, create a test order in Shopify first — the preview needs one real document.

Mapping / pick a template#

Pick the Shopify standard template. It maps order number, line SKUs, quantities, ship-to address, and fulfillment status. If you sell bundles or use custom line-item properties, check those fields in the mapping preview before activating.

Shopify order round-trip: orders in, fulfillment back.

Activate#

After activation, Integration pulls new orders on the schedule you set, pushes inventory changes back to Shopify, and reports fulfillment with tracking numbers. Watch the first few orders in Runs / Logs before trusting it unattended.

FAQ#

Test fails with 401

The token is wrong, expired, or missing a scope.

Reinstall the app and re-copy the token, then check the scopes in the credentials step.

No orders are pulled in

The connection is fine — the store simply has no new orders.

Create a test order in the store, then run a manual pull.

SKUs show as unmapped

The channel SKU is not paired with a product in OMS yet.

Open the pending tab in Product Mapping and pair each channel SKU to an OMS product.
