TMS: transport orders

Last updated 2026-10-14

Create transport orders (TO-000001) by hand or from WMS loads, and pick the right mode: LTL, FTL, or parcel.

A transport order is the job ticket for one truck move. When goods are ready to ship but no truck is booked yet, create the order first: origin, destination, how much freight, and when it must arrive. Order numbers run on a global sequence like TO-000001.

Two ways to create an order#

  • Manual: create it in tms/orders. It starts as a draft by default, or you can submit it straight to "pending dispatch" in one step.
  • Auto from WMS: when a WMS load is ready, the system generates a pending-dispatch order automatically — one load creates at most one order, never duplicates.

Create an order by hand#

  1. Open tms/orders and click New.
  2. Fill the required fields: origin, destination, and mode (LTL/FTL/parcel).
  3. Fill the optional fields: weight (lb), pallets, pieces, pickup date, required delivery date, merchant (cargo owner), customer.
  4. Save as draft, or submit in one step to make it pending dispatch right away.

The three transport modes#

  • LTL (less-than-truckload, 零担拼车): your freight does not fill a whole truck, so it shares the trailer with other shippers’ freight; you pay by pallet or by weight.
  • FTL (full truckload, 整车包车): the whole truck is yours — one truck, direct to destination. Faster and safer for the freight, but more expensive.
  • parcel (小包裹): courier small packages like UPS/FedEx. You can pick it on the order, but parcels normally do not go through the TMS flow.
Parcels stay out of TMS: the WMS auto-generation only accepts LTL/FTL. Ship everyday small packages through the parcel carrier accounts in Integration (rate, label, tracking) — do not create TMS orders for them.

Auto-generated from a WMS load#

  1. In WMS, the load (装车单) becomes ready → the system calls the TMS API and creates the transport order, already pending dispatch.
  2. The WMS Pro number comes over as the tracking number (tracking_no).
  3. One load creates at most one order: if the order already exists, the call is skipped (idempotent) — no duplicates.
The tms/orders list filters by status, carrier, and mode. In the mobile app, drivers only see the orders assigned to them.
