Documents: the unified document center

One storage and lookup home for every file across all apps: standardized metadata, quotas, sharing, trash, and OCR.

Documents is the single document store for the whole platform: instead of each app saving files its own way, everything goes through the standardized Documents API. Files live in cloud object storage; metadata lives in the database with two layers — common required fields (doc_type, source system/event, merchant, ref_type + ref_id, created by/at, file info) plus business context JSON.

What you can do#

  • Upload, list, search (including OCR full-text over images once the OCR service is enabled), download via signed URLs.
  • Share links (password-protected, hashed), batch operations, and a 30-day trash before permanent deletion.
  • Audit log of every action, tenant storage quotas, duplicate detection, and watermarking.
  • WMS / TMS / Drayage / LastMile — task photos, POD pictures, and shipping documents all land here via the API instead of scattered storage.
  • Permissions follow app permissions ∩ merchant scope, using source_system for isolation.
OCR full-text search needs a self-hosted OCR service (a Linux box running Docker) plus a scheduled dispatch job. Without it, image text is not searchable — check with your admin whether OCR is enabled.
