Channel Label Source: Take Labels from the Channel

Last updated 2026-10-29

For channels that issue their own labels (Wayfair-style supplier fulfilment), switch the connection’s Label source to “From channel”: batch shipping then prints the channel label together with its packing slip, and those orders skip the packing station.

Every channel connection has a Label source setting with two choices. “Buy from carrier” (the default) means the warehouse buys the label when the order ships. “From channel” means the channel hands its own label — and usually its packing slip — to the warehouse, and the warehouse only prints and sticks them. The setting is per connection, so one channel can work one way and another channel the other way.

Where to set it#

  1. Open Integration → Connections and open the channel connection you want to change (for example your Wayfair connection).
  2. In the “Label source” section, choose “From channel — fetch the label and packing slip from the channel”. If your connection does not show this section, that channel works with carrier-bought labels only, and there is nothing to set.
  3. Save. The change applies to orders shipped after you save; orders already in a batch keep the source they started with.

What changes in the warehouse#

  1. In label-first batch shipping (WMS → Outbound Orders → Label-first batch shipping), orders from this channel get their label and packing slip from the channel at step 3. The two print together, label first and slip right behind it, so each order’s papers stay in one set.
  2. These orders do not go through the packing station: the label is already the channel’s, so there is nothing to buy at the station. Their batch preview shows “no freight” for them, because the warehouse does not buy a label — only the warehouse handling applies.
  3. When the batch closes, the shipment confirmation goes back to the channel with the same tracking number the channel issued — nothing is re-bought and no new number is created. If an order from this channel also carries a customer-supplied label, the customer-supplied label is used first.
Switch back to “Buy from carrier” only when the channel stops supplying labels. Orders already printed with a channel label must still ship with that label — voiding and re-buying would give the parcel a different tracking number than the one the channel already knows.

Features used in this article#

  • Label source setting on the connection — Integration → Connections → open a connection → Label source (/integration/connections)
  • Label-first batch shipping (channel labels print with their packing slip) — WMS → Outbound Orders → Label-first batch shipping (/wms/orders)
