PDF Editor: Edit PDFs in the Browser
Upload one or more PDFs, see every page as a thumbnail, then reorder, rotate and delete pages and download one merged PDF — everything runs in your browser, files are never uploaded.
The PDF Editor (Utilities → PDF Editor, /utilities/pdf-editor) tidies up PDF files page by page: put pages in a different order, turn sideways pages upright, drop pages you do not need, and join several PDFs into one. Every page shows as a thumbnail you can see and grab, and when you are done you download a single merged PDF. Everything runs in your browser — the files are never uploaded anywhere, which makes it a safe choice for documents you would rather not send to an outside service. Note what it edits: the pages themselves (order, direction, which pages stay), not the text or pictures inside a page.
Step 1: Upload your PDFs#
- Click Upload PDF(s) and pick the files. You can select several files at once — for example the packing list and the invoice you want to send as one document.
- Wait for the thumbnails to finish rendering. The counter at the top shows how many pages you have and how many are selected.
- Each thumbnail shows its source file name under it, so when pages from several files are mixed together you can still tell where each page came from.
- Only PDF files are accepted — picking another file type shows an error and nothing is added.
- The working set holds at most 100 pages in total across all uploaded files. If your files have more, only the first 100 pages are kept and the page warns you — split the job into two downloads instead.
- A file that cannot be read (for example a damaged PDF) shows an error naming that file; the other files still load normally.
Step 2: Select and delete pages you do not need#
- Click a thumbnail to select it; click it again to deselect. Selected pages get a blue frame and a check mark.
- To remove pages one at a time, use the ✕ button on the page’s own card — no need to select it first.
- For a whole batch, select the pages, then click Delete selected (the button shows how many are selected). Select all and Clear selection in the toolbar do what their names say.
- Clear all empties the whole working set so you can start over with different files.
Step 3: Reorder and rotate pages#
- Drag a thumbnail and drop it where it belongs — the other pages shift to make room. This is the fastest way to fix a scanned stack that came out in the wrong order.
- On touch screens, or for fine moves, use the arrow buttons on each card: move left, move right, move up one row, move down one row.
- Rotate 90° (the ⟳90° button on each card) turns that page a quarter turn clockwise. Click again for 180°, and again for 270° — the thumbnail turns with you, so stop when the page reads upright.
- Reordering, deleting and rotating only change the working set on this page — your original files on disk are never touched.
Step 4: Merge and download#
- When the order looks right, click Merge & Download. The button is only active while there is at least one page in the working set.
- The pages are assembled in exactly the order and rotation you see on screen, and downloaded as one PDF named pdf-editor-<date-time>.pdf.
- Open the downloaded file and spot-check the first, middle and last pages before you send it on — once the page is closed, the working set is gone and you would start again from the original files.
What this editor does not do#
- It does not change the content of a page: no editing text, no adding stamps, images or form fields. What you see on each thumbnail is exactly what lands in the merged file.
- To sign a PDF, use the sibling tool Utilities → PDF Sign (/utilities/pdf-sign) — it signs documents in the browser, also without uploading them.
- Nothing here is saved in Docklify: if a merged document needs to live with an order or a client file, download it first and then store it in Documents.
