Carriers and Carrier Accounts: Maintain Carriers and Their Account Credentials
Keep one profile per carrier, then store each Client’s shipping account and API credentials under it — so rating and label printing always use the right account.
Docklify keeps carriers in two layers. The carrier profile (Master Data → Carriers) says who the carrier is: name, SCAC, shipping methods and the services it supports. The carrier account (Master Data → Carrier Accounts) says how you ship with them: one account per Client, holding the account number and the API credentials used for rating and labels. Keep the two layers separate — one carrier profile can serve many Clients, and one Client can hold several accounts with the same carrier.
Step 1: Create a carrier profile#
- Open Master Data → Carriers and click "+ New carrier".
- In Basic Info, enter the carrier Name (required) and pick a Status: ACTIVE, INACTIVE or EXCEPTION.
- In Contact Info, fill in the Shipping Methods (required, comma-separated, e.g. "Ground, Air") and the Default Shipping Method (required).
- Add the identifiers and contact details you have: Delivery Service, SCAC, USDOT, MC Number, Partner SCAC, Zip Code Coverage, contact name, phone and email. Tick "Forbid Mixed Shipment Load" if this carrier must never mix shipments in one load.
- In E-pro Management, choose whether the carrier applies to all facilities or only to specific ones, then click Create.
Back on the list (Master Data → Carriers), you can filter by name, SCAC, MC Number, USDOT and status, see how many services each carrier has, and use Export to download the list as a CSV file.
Step 2: Add the services the carrier supports#
- Open the carrier from the list (click its name) — the edit page has a separate "Supported Services" card below the form.
- Click "+ Add Service" and fill in one row per service: Service Code (e.g. UPS_GROUND) and Service Name (e.g. UPS Ground) are required; the Chinese name and Transit Days are optional.
- Use the Active checkbox to switch a service on or off without deleting it, then click "Save services". The ✕ button removes a row (it asks for confirmation first).
- Save the carrier first, then add services — the services card belongs to an existing carrier.
- These services are what the Packing Station offers when rating and printing labels, so keep codes exactly as the carrier names them.
Step 3: Create a carrier account for a Client#
- Open Master Data → Carrier Accounts and click "+ New carrier account".
- In Basic Info, select the Carrier and the Client this account belongs to, and enter the Account Number (all three are required). Name and Company are optional labels for your own reference.
- Tick the flags that apply: "Is Return Account" for a returns-only account, "House Account" for your own house account, and "Test mode" while you are still testing with the carrier’s sandbox.
- Fill in the Address section (address lines, city, state, zip code, country, phone) — this is the address tied to the account; Smart Post Hubid and a separate Return Account Number go here too when the carrier uses them.
- In API Credentials, enter the credentials the carrier issued for this account: API Client ID and API Client Password are required when creating the account; API Token, Track API Key and Track API Secret are filled in when the carrier uses them.
- Click Create. The list now shows the account under its Client, with its mode (Test Mode / Production) and status.
Credentials are stored encrypted and are never shown anywhere — the account list only displays the API Client ID, never a password or secret. When you edit an account (Master Data → Carrier Accounts → click the account number), a saved password field shows "Password set (leave blank to keep)": leave it blank and the old value stays untouched. The same edit page has a Disable / Enable button that switches the account between INACTIVE and ACTIVE without deleting it.
Step 4: Connect shipping accounts in Integration#
- Open Integration → Carriers and click "New account". Pick the carrier from the catalog with the search box — the catalog lists each carrier’s type (small parcel, LTL or FTL) and how it connects.
- Enter the account number, choose the Label mode — "API (live rates & labels)" to rate and print through the carrier’s API, or "Offline (manual waybill)" to type waybill numbers in by hand — and tick the Enabled services this account may use.
- Fill in the Credentials section (the fields follow the carrier’s sign-in type, e.g. API key / client ID and secret, account password, or access token), and tick "Set as default carrier" if this should be the account picked first. Existing credentials are never shown again — leave a field blank to keep the saved value.
- Save, then use the row actions on the list: the Enabled switch turns an account on or off, "Test" runs a connectivity test and records the time in the Last test column, and Edit / Delete manage the account (deleting also removes its stored credentials).
If a test result carries a "Mock" badge, that run was a simulated test rather than a live call to the carrier — treat it as a walkthrough of the flow, and run the test again once real credentials are in place. The accounts on this Integration page are the same ones the rest of Docklify reads when shipping, so there is one list to keep current, not two.
