YMS Yards: Creating and Configuring a Yard
Create a yard in YMS, link it to a warehouse if you want, fill in its address, then find, edit or delete it from the yard list.
A yard is the fenced area where your trailers and containers wait, park and get moved around. In Docklify, yards are maintained inside YMS — not in Master Data. Each yard has its own code, name and address, and you can link it to a warehouse (maintained in Master Data → Warehouses) when the yard belongs to that warehouse. Everything else in YMS — the yard map, the 3D view, the layout editor — works on the yards you create here, at YMS → Yards (/yms/yards).
Step 1: Create a yard#
- Open YMS → Yards and click “+ New yard” at the top right. A separate create page opens (/yms/yards/new).
- In the Basic info card, fill in Code and Name — both are required. Pick short, recognizable codes: the code is how people refer to the yard in daily work.
- Optionally pick a Warehouse. The list comes from the warehouses maintained in Master Data → Warehouses; leave it empty if the yard does not belong to a warehouse.
- Fill in the Address card: street on its own line, then city, state/province, ZIP/postal code and country.
- Click “Create Yard”. You return to the yard list and the new yard is there.
Two things worth knowing on this form: picking a warehouse fills the address fields with that warehouse’s address automatically — handy when the yard sits at the warehouse — and you can still edit every field afterwards. Clearing the warehouse does not clear an address you already filled in. Also, the code cannot be changed after creation, so choose it carefully; the edit form shows it read-only.
Step 2: Find and check a yard in the list#
- Each row shows the yard code with its name underneath, the linked warehouse, the full address and the creation time. The count above the list tells you how many yards match.
- To search, type part of a code or name in the Search box and click Search (or press Enter). The filter applies only when you click — typing alone does not filter. Click Reset to clear it.
- A yard with no warehouse shows “—” in the Warehouse column — that is fine; the link is optional.
Step 3: Edit a yard#
- Quick edit: tick exactly one yard in the list, then click “Edit selected”. A dialog opens with the same fields as the create form — name, warehouse and address (the code stays read-only).
- Full-page edit: open /yms/yards/<id>/edit — the same yard form on its own page, loaded with the yard’s current values. Use whichever route you prefer; both save to the same yard.
- Change what you need and click Save. The name cannot be left empty — the form will stop you if it is blank.
The yards you maintain here are the same yards the rest of YMS works with: the Layout Editor (YMS → 3D Yard View → Layout Editor) starts by picking a yard from this list, and the yard map shows one yard at a time. Keeping codes and addresses right here keeps everything downstream right too.
Step 4: Delete yards you no longer use#
- Tick one or more yards in the list.
- Click “Delete selected” and confirm. The selected yards are removed from the list.
