Daily DVIR inspection: pre-trip and post-trip, one screen at a time
Drivers inspect the truck on the phone — one big screen per item: tires, lights, brakes, fluids, documents. A failed critical item locks the truck automatically and can become a repair work order. No signal? The inspection is saved offline and uploads when you’re back online.
DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) is the daily safety ritual: check the truck before it rolls out, check it again when it comes back. On the phone, Fleet shows one big screen per item with three big glove-friendly buttons — Pass, Fail, N/A. If an item fails, the screen expands: describe what’s wrong and snap a photo.
How an inspection goes#
- On the phone: Fleet → Inspection. Pick the truck (or scan its body QR), choose Pre-trip or Post-trip.
- One screen per item: tires (pressure, wear), lights (head, turn, brake, marker), brakes (service + parking, no air leaks), fluids (engine oil level), documents (registration and insurance on board and valid).
- Fail an item: write what’s wrong, snap a photo, Next. Post-trip also asks for the odometer reading.
- Review the summary (failed items are red), Submit. Critical items — tires, lights, brakes, documents — carry a red critical tag.
What a failed critical item does#
- The whole inspection fails, AND the truck is locked automatically — nobody can be assigned that truck until it’s fixed.
- The result page offers a one-tap repair work order — it lands in the repair queue linked to the truck.
- Desktop sees it too: the dashboard’s "Inspection exceptions" and the Reminder hub.
