Label Print: Print Warehouse Labels

Last updated 2026-10-24

Print item, location, LPN, tote and carton labels from your live WMS data: search and multi-select, set copies per row, pick 4×6, 4×3 or 2×1, preview the Code128 barcode, then send it to a label printer via Device Hub (or print from the browser).

Label Print (Utilities → Label Print, /utilities/label-print) prints the everyday labels a warehouse sticks on things: item labels, location labels, LPN (pallet) labels, tote labels and carton labels. Item, location, LPN and tote labels are picked from your live WMS records — you search, select, set copies and print — while carton labels are typed in by hand. The main way to print is "Print via Device Hub": the label goes straight to the warehouse label printer — a Hub paired on this computer first, the warehouse’s cloud printer as fallback. Browser printing is there too: it opens a new window with the print dialog, and you choose the printer on the spot. These are warehouse labels with Code128 barcodes, not carrier shipping labels: parcel labels bought and paid for a shipment are created in the shipping flow (WMS → Shipments), not here.

Step 1: Pick the label type#

  • Item label — for products. The label shows the SKU in large type, the product name, a barcode (the product’s barcode, or the SKU if the product has no barcode), and the client name at the bottom.
  • Location label — for rack and bin locations. Big location code, the check code when the location has one, a barcode (the location barcode, or the code), and warehouse · zone at the bottom.
  • LPN label — for pallets. Big LPN, and the pallet number plus the quantity on the pallet at the bottom.
  • Tote label — for the slots of a picking cart. Big license plate, with the cart number and slot number at the bottom. You pick the cart first, then its totes.
  • Carton label — typed in by hand, one carton ID per line. The ID itself is the big text and the barcode. Use it for cartons that are not in the system yet.

Step 2: Select what to print and set copies#

  1. Open the tab for your label type. For Item, Location and LPN, type in the search box to find records (products by SKU or name, locations by code, pallets by LPN). For Tote, select a picking cart first — the tote list only loads after a cart is chosen.
  2. Select one or more records in the multi-select box. Each selected record appears as a row in the table below.
  3. Set the Copies on each row — a damaged location label might need one copy, a new product ten. Remove a row with its Remove link if you picked it by mistake.
  4. For Carton labels there is no search: type or paste the carton IDs into the text box, one per line, set the copies that apply to the whole batch, and click Add. IDs you already added are skipped, so pasting a list twice does no harm.

The records you pick here are the same ones the warehouse works with every day: products come from Master Data → Products, locations and pallets from the WMS warehouse data, and tote carts from the picking setup. If a product or location is missing from the search results, create or fix it in its own page first — this tool only prints what already exists (plus the hand-typed cartons).

Step 3: Choose the label size and check the preview#

  • Label size — 4″ × 6″ (the standard warehouse and shipping size, and the default), 4″ × 3″, or 2″ × 1″. Match it to the label stock loaded in your printer.
  • The 2″ × 1″ size is a compact layout: label type and number on one line, the barcode as the main element, and the barcode number in small type. The name / extra lines do not fit and are left off at this size.
  • Preview — the right-hand side shows the first selected label exactly as it will print, at the size you picked, so you can check the barcode and wording before printing the whole batch.
  • Location labels preview in their real print layout: at 4×6 a portrait layout with the zone and the code segments; at 4×3 a landscape layout with the segments side by side — check code included when the location has one. The preview follows the first location you tick; change the tick and the preview follows.
  • Total labels — the print panel adds up the copies of every row, so you know how many labels (and how much label stock) the job will use.

Step 4: Print#

  1. To print on the warehouse label printer, click "Print via Device Hub" in the print panel. The job goes to a Device Hub paired with this computer first; if none is reachable, it falls back to the warehouse’s cloud printer. If no Hub is installed yet, the page shows how to install it — and remember, labels can only go to a label printer, never an office printer.
  2. Or print from the browser: click Print in the print panel. If nothing is selected, the page tells you there is nothing to print instead of opening an empty job.
  3. A new browser window opens with all labels laid out — every row repeated as many times as its copies — and the print dialog comes up on its own.
  4. Pick the label printer and confirm the paper size in the browser’s print dialog, then print. Back on the page, a “Sent to printer” message confirms the job was handed off.
Print one label first when you change size or printer: check that the barcode scans and that nothing is cut off at the edges, then run the full batch. A size mismatch between this page, the print dialog and the loaded label stock is the most common cause of wasted labels.

When this is not the right tool#

Use this page for warehouse labels that identify things inside the building — products, locations, pallets and totes, plus hand-typed carton IDs. Do not use it for carrier shipping labels: those are bought per shipment, carry the carrier’s tracking barcode and are printed from the shipping flow (WMS → Shipments; see the Packing Station and Device Hub articles for printing at a packing station). If a label needs data from a shipment that does not exist yet, it belongs in that flow, not here.
