Drayage P1: auto booking, container tracking, live map, client portal
What is new in Drayage P1: terminal appointment auto-booking, automatic container tracking, driver live map, client self-service portal, customs inspection linkage, and voice alerts everywhere.
P1 is about automation: fewer clicks for dispatchers, live visibility for everyone, and self-service for your customers. If a feature needs a key you do not have yet (eModal partnership), it runs in clearly-labeled simulated mode so you can try the full flow today.
1. Terminal appointment auto-booking#
- Open Drayage → Appointments. Each order waiting for a booking now has an "Auto book" button.
- Pick a platform (simulated demo, eModal, PierPass/terminal systems), enter the terminal, and the system recommends the best slots — avoiding conflicts and staying before cut-off for exports.
- Simulated mode books instantly with a SIM- reference (clearly labeled). eModal/PierPass open the platform booking page in a new tab with everything pre-filled — one click to confirm manually.
2. Automatic container tracking#
- Subscribe a container number on the Tracking page (provider Terminal49). The system pulls milestones on schedule and updates vessel ETA, discharge date, holds and free days automatically. If the Tracking page shows a "not connected" notice for your workspace, the data is maintained manually until tracking is switched on — ask your administrator.
- Two free-day clocks, shown separately: the terminal Last Free Day drives demurrage, the carrier (shipping line) Last Free Day drives per diem. The Tracking list and detail show both deadlines with their own countdowns and fee estimates, so you can see which clock is about to run out.
- Discharged is not the same as ready: a green "Available for pickup" tag appears only when the terminal/carrier releases the box. A carrier hold (line hold, e.g. for documents or charges) is shown separately from a customs hold.
- Anomalies raise alerts by themselves: a new customs hold creates a Customs inspection case automatically; a vessel delay over 24 hours, a new carrier hold, "available for pickup" and an approaching Last Free Day alert the dispatcher on the board and by email (when an alert email group is configured).
3. Driver live map#
Dispatch board has a new "Live map" tab: every online driver on one map, with their current order and container status in the popup. Terminals show as anchors. Refreshes every 30 seconds.
- How locations get there: while a driver has an active job (dispatched / picked up / delivering), the driver app reports the phone location automatically about once a minute. Nothing to tap — just keep location permission on and the app in the foreground. Reporting stops by itself when the driver has no active job.
- Offline is fine: points are buffered on the phone and the latest one is sent when the connection returns. If a marker is grey, that is the driver’s last known location — the popup shows how many minutes ago it was reported. Only green markers are live.
If your trucks carry fleet GPS hardware (Samsara or Motive), the same map also shows a vehicle layer: blue-ringed truck markers, separate from driver phone positions. Connect your fleet account under Integration, make sure each vehicle carries its Samsara/Motive vehicle ID in Fleet, and bind each driver to their truck — the map then shows which driver was driving each truck at the time of each position. A vehicle whose position is older than 15 minutes is greyed out and labeled "last known location · x min ago". If no fleet account is connected yet, the vehicle layer simply stays empty — it never invents positions. You can turn the vehicle layer on and off with the checkbox above the map.
4. Client self-service portal#
- My Drayage → any order: a container timeline shows vessel → terminal → pickup → delivery, with customs hold flags.
- "+ New order" opens a 3-step wizard (move type → route → confirm). The draft goes straight to the dispatch board.
- Order documents in the portal: open any drayage order and use the Documents section to view and download its POD, bill of lading, TIR and EIR files, plus photos attached along the way — no need to ask customer service for files.
- Invoices in the portal: the order page lists the invoices that belong to that order, and Billing shows all drayage invoices in one list. Open one to see its charge lines, then print it for your records. Only sent invoices appear here — drafts still being prepared are not shown.
5. Customs inspection linkage#
When a container is flagged for customs hold (auto-tracking, driver report, or manual), the system creates an inspection case in the Customs app automatically and links it back. When Customs marks the inspection passed, the hold clears on the Drayage side by itself.
6. Voice alerts everywhere#
- Dispatch board: a 🔊 toggle announces urgent alerts out loud (LFD overdue, customs hold, missed appointment, cut-off within 24h). P0 alerts interrupt whatever is playing.
- Client portal: a 🔊 toggle announces order status changes (dispatched / picked up / delivered / exception).
- Driver voice preferences now roam across devices (server-side settings); every announcement is audit-logged for 90 days.
7. Driver job confirmation#
- After dispatch, the driver opens the job in the driver app and taps "Confirm job". Dispatch sees the confirmation right away — no phone call needed. Tapping again is harmless: it only counts once.
- If a driver cannot take a job, they contact dispatch directly — dispatch cancels and reassigns the job. There is no decline button.
- Dispatchers: on the dispatch board, dispatched jobs show "Driver confirmed" or "Awaiting driver confirmation". If a driver has not confirmed within the time limit (30 minutes by default), the job is flagged red with how long it has been waiting — follow up with the driver. The limit can be changed on the board ("Confirm timeout", 5–480 minutes).
