Packing & shipping: the shipping station
Scan to pull up orders at the shipping station, pack-verify every item, split into packages or ship as-is, print shipping labels, and confirm dispatch.
The shipping station#
Desktop WMS → Shipping Station (small-parcel shipping desk). The flow: scan to pull up the order → pack-verify → split into packages or ship as-is → print the shipping label → confirm dispatch.
Scan to pull up the order
- Order pick: scan the pallet LP / tote barcode / outbound shipment number to pull up the single order.
- Batch: scan the tote barcode to pull up its linked order (same flow as order pick).
- Wave: one code → many orders — scan the pallet barcode to confirm N orders, then scan UPCs and the system auto-matches each unit to its pending order to lock ownership.
pack-verify: item-level verification#
- Scan items one by one to verify SKU + quantity (scan continuously, or scan once and type the quantity).
- When pack_require_unit_scan=true, every single unit must be scanned — no quantity typing allowed.
- Serial-tracked items: scan the serial directly (a globally unique serial identifies the SKU) or scan the SKU first and fill in the serials after.
Ship as-is vs repack#
- Ship as-is: no packing material is selected — one unit = one package, using the item’s own weight and dimensions.
- Repack: a packing material must be selected.
- Manual split: New Package — with multiple packages each box gets its own shipping label.
Printing the shipping label#
Print the 4×6 shipping label through Device Hub (direct to the Zebra printer) or fall back to downloading the ZPL. For waves there is batch printing: the station prompts “N more same-SKU pending orders” — enter a quantity to print N labels at once.
Confirm dispatch and loads#
Confirm dispatch once verification is clean. For pallet-size / full-truck outbound, use WMS → Outbound Load: Load ID is system-generated, while Load No is the business number you type in (required) — the two are separate, don’t mix them up.
