LastMile pickups: sending a driver to collect parcels

Last updated 2026-10-14

Create LMP- pickup tasks (contact, address, counts, time window, hub), assign a driver, and mark picked up or failed.

A pickup task means "go to this address and bring the parcels back to our hub". Use it when a supplier has goods ready for collection, a customer wants a return picked up, or a store needs replenishing. Every task gets a number starting with LMP-.

Create a pickup in 3 steps#

  1. Fill in the basics: contact name, phone, pickup address (city, postal code), package count, pallet count, and handling unit — parcel (small parcel), pallet (full pallet), or bulky (oversized). Add the pickup time window and choose the hub (the sort center the goods come back to).
  2. Assign: pick a driver (required; you can also attach the task to a route). The status moves from pending to assigned.
  3. The driver works from the mobile app: tap "arrived" on arrival (a confirmation only, not a saved status), then mark picked_up when the goods are collected (the system stamps picked_up_at), or failed with a required reason such as "customer not home".

What if a pickup fails?#

A failed task is not dead: failed → assigned lets you re-dispatch it to another driver. Tasks in pending, assigned, or failed can also be cancelled outright (cancelled). Cancelling is done directly from the edit action — dispatch and completion use their own dedicated buttons.

Hub means the sort center / collection point — the building where picked-up parcels arrive before sorting. Set up hubs first under the hub master data (name, address, city, coordinates, operating hours).
Unlike deliveries, pickup tasks have no tracking-event timeline — status is only visible on the list. And "arrived" is never stored: if a driver taps it, nothing is written to the database.
