Warehouse 3D visualization: see your whole warehouse at a glance
Shelves, aisles and staging areas in 3D, colored by occupancy — green means room to receive, red means full. Click anything to see what is inside; snapshot or live mode.
3D warehouse visualization turns your WMS inventory data into a visible warehouse: shelves, aisles, inbound/outbound staging areas, rendered in 3D in the browser — no plugin needed. Color tells you where it is empty and where it is full. Click any shelf or bin to see the inventory inside.
Where to find it#
- Open the WMS app → side menu "3D Visualization", right under Inventory. The page is read-only by default.
- You need the view permission (wms.visualization.view) to see the menu. Editing the layout is a separate permission — see the layout editor guide.
- On the phone you get a simplified read-only version; on desktop the full thing.
The four bin colors#
- Green — empty: the bin has no stock (qty = 0) and is active. Safe to receive into.
- Yellow — half-full: has stock, at or below the median qty of stocked bins on this floor.
- Red — full: has stock, above the median qty of stocked bins on this floor.
- Gray — disabled: the bin is deactivated (is_active = false).
Every bin color comes from live WMS inventory (wms_inventory_balance): when stock changes, the color changes. There are no static demo colors.
What "occupancy" actually means#
The occupancy rate counts bins, not volume: occupied bins ÷ total bins in the rack. A bin with anything in it counts as occupied, even if the pallet is half empty. The legend in the lower-left corner always shows this definition, so nobody mistakes it for a precise cubic-meter figure.
Snapshot mode vs live mode#
- Snapshot mode (default): shows a pre-computed aggregate, refreshed every 5 minutes. Loads fast (first screen under 2 seconds); fine for daily checks and screenshots for reports.
- Live mode: subscribes to inventory changes and recolors bins within a few seconds. A green "● LIVE" breathing dot appears top-right. Best for cycle counts or peak-season watch; on huge warehouses, keep it to the current floor.
- One tap on the top-bar switch flips between the two.
Click to see what is inside#
- Hover a rack or bin: highlight outline + floating tag (code + occupancy).
- Click a rack: right drawer slides out with the rack summary (occupancy, pallet count, top 5 SKUs).
- Click a bin (zoom in first): the drawer lists every inventory line in that bin — SKU/name, on-hand/allocated/available, client, days sitting there, lot and expiry.
- Each SKU has "View inventory details", which jumps to the WMS inventory page in a new tab.
