End of Day: Manifest Closing and Daily Cutoff
Close the shipping day per carrier: generate the manifest of every parcel shipped today, print it for the courier, and confirm the handover with the courier’s name on record.
End of Day (WMS → End of Day) is the daily cutoff for parcel shipping. Before the courier leaves, you close the day for each carrier: Docklify collects every parcel that carrier took today — everything shipped from midnight up to now — into one manifest with the full list of tracking numbers. You print the manifest, hand the parcels over against it, and record who received them. One manifest per carrier keeps each handover clean: what the courier signed for is exactly what the list says.
The cutoff is always “today”: a manifest only ever covers the current calendar day, for one warehouse and one carrier at a time. Yesterday’s parcels never leak into today’s list, and a second warehouse or a second carrier gets its own manifest — that separation is what makes the handover record trustworthy later, when a parcel goes missing and someone asks who took it.
Step 1: Generate today’s manifest for a carrier#
- Open WMS → End of Day. This page follows the warehouse selected in the top bar — the manifest list below and any manifest you generate both use that warehouse. To work on another warehouse, switch it in the top bar first.
- Pick the carrier. The dropdown only lists carrier accounts that support manifests (shown with their account number) — a carrier without manifest support never appears here.
- Click Generate manifest. Docklify creates the manifest for today with a manifest number and the parcel count — the parcels shipped today for that carrier in that warehouse.
Step 2: Open the manifest and check it before printing#
- In the manifest list, each row shows the manifest number, carrier, parcel count, status and creation time. Click the manifest number to open its detail.
- On the detail page, check the header first: carrier, manifest date, parcel count and status — then compare the tracking number list underneath against the parcels staged for pickup. The count in the header and the number of tracking rows must agree.
- The detail page also shows the manifest number as a barcode-style block, so the printed copy can be scanned back later instead of typed.
Step 3: Print the manifest for the courier#
From the manifest detail, click Print. Printing is recorded on the manifest (the page notes when it was printed), and the printed sheet carries the header, the manifest-number barcode and the full tracking list — everything the courier needs to check the load at the dock door. The on-screen buttons and navigation are left off the printed copy automatically.
Step 4: Confirm the handover#
- With the parcels loaded, fill in “Handed over to (courier)” with the name of the person who actually took them — the confirmation cannot be saved without it.
- Click Confirm handover. The manifest’s status becomes handed over and the courier’s name stays on the record. Confirming also ships the orders on the list: every listed order that is still packed or staged is marked shipped (fulfilled) at that moment — the same end state as handing over on the mobile handover page. The detail then shows a Handover result: how many orders shipped, and any that could not be completed, with the reason for each.
- If some orders could not be completed — for example a shortage that still needs sorting out — the manifest still counts as handed over (the truck has left), and those orders stay in their current status. Fix the cause, then open the manifest again and click Retry pending shipments in the Handover result section; only the pending orders are processed, and you do not need to enter the courier’s name again.
- Repeat Steps 1–4 for each carrier that picks up today. The manifest list keeps the day’s manifests — number, carrier, parcel count, status and creation time — so the end of the day leaves a complete record of who took what.
