Pick path validation: is this task’s route any good?

Last updated 2026-10-16

Compare the system pick sequence against the distance-optimal order, get a verdict (excellent / good / fair / poor), and overlay the optimal route as a dashed line in 3D.

A pick task can be "correct" (every line has a bin) and still be slow — the sequence might zigzag across the warehouse. Path validation answers one question: compared with the distance-optimal order, how much extra walking does the system’s sequence cause?

How to validate, in two steps#

  1. Open the Pick path dialog → switch to the "Validate path" tab → enter the pick task ID → press Validate. The system route is drawn in 3D first, so you have context.
  2. Read the verdict, then optionally overlay the optimal route as a purple dashed line in 3D to see exactly where the system sequence goes wrong.

What the four verdicts mean#

  • Excellent (green) — less than 5% extra walking. The sequence is essentially optimal; leave it alone.
  • Good (blue) — 5–15% extra. Acceptable for daily work; revisit when you next tune slotting.
  • Fair (yellow) — 15–30% extra. Worth a look: check the wave grouping and whether fast movers sit in the wrong zone.
  • Poor (red) — over 30% extra. The sequence is clearly wrong: re-sequence the pick task in WMS, then redraw the path.
Validation is read-only: it visualizes and scores the task, never changes it. If the verdict is fair or poor, fix the sequence in WMS (re-sequence the pick task or fix slotting), then validate again.
