System inventory doesn’t match what’s on the shelf

Don’t adjust by hand — run a cycle count and investigate before posting an adjustment.
Inventory differences usually come from unfinished tasks (a pallet still in receiving, a pick not yet confirmed) rather than real loss. Check for open work first, then count.
- Look up the product or location on mobile (search by LPN or location code) and check for pallets still in receiving or tasks in progress.
- Run a cycle count on the location and enter the true on-hand quantity.
- If the variance persists, request a recount; only post an adjustment after it is approved, with a clear reason.
Adjusting inventory without counting hides the root cause (missed scans, wrong locations). Always count first.
