Own-Warehouse Onboarding: Simplified Setup, Staff and Devices
Last updated 2026-10-13
For single-owner warehouses: simplified configuration, staff and attendance setup, and device/printing checklist.

This guide is for own warehouses with a single owner — yourself. Configuration is much simpler than a 3PL: where a merchant is required, the system automatically uses your default merchant.
Simplified setup in three steps#
- Create your warehouse (master data → warehouses) and choose the receiving mode: desktop receiving, mobile receive tasks, or both. The mode is enforced in the UI so the same receipt is never worked from both sides at once.
- Pick a receiving flow that fits: a simple warehouse can use Direct receiving with the direct-to-pick putaway strategy, so goods go straight to pick faces with no storage locations or pallets involved.
- Prepare picking: the PICK-STAGE staging location is created automatically per warehouse (hidden from the UI). Batch-generate target pallet LPNs from the Pallets page (LPN- prefix) when you need them.
Staff and attendance#
- Create employee profiles in People: employee numbers are generated automatically (like E-000123); fill in department, job title and direct manager.
- Accounts: bind an existing login account to the profile. Floor workers without accounts go through the invite flow to set a password and create one (one account can only be bound to one active profile).
- Assign work skills: receiving, putaway, pick, pack, ship, load, count. For an own warehouse you can simply enable all of them per role.
- Attendance: create shifts (default 08:00–17:00 with 5-minute grace) → put shifts into attendance groups → draw a geofence around the warehouse (default 200 m radius) → workers punch in/out on their phones. Punch corrections are capped at 3 per month.

New hires start with all skills enabled by default. Tighten skills to their actual role before they go live on the floor, so nobody accidentally works a step they were never trained on.
Devices and printing#
- Mobile scanning (m.docklify.com): receiving, picking, counts, location moves and replenishment all have mobile pages. The mobile apps are online-only — the warehouse needs Wi-Fi coverage in receiving and picking areas.
- Pallet labels are printed on desktop after receiving completes (LPN barcodes). The mobile success screen reminds workers: the label is generated, please print it on desktop.
- Scanners or phone cameras both work. Print and post location codes before go-live, and test-scan every area once.
Mobile currently prioritizes Android; iOS support comes in a later release. Confirm the device models on the floor before go-live.
