Go-Live Checklist: Data, Access, Printing, Counts and Cutover Day

Last updated 2026-10-13

The universal pre-launch checklist: data readiness, accounts and permissions, printing and devices, inventory counts, and cutover-day steps.

Warehouse at peak readiness: inventory staged for go-live

Check every item below before cutover day, whatever your business model. It is split into four parts: data, access, printing and devices, then counts and the cutover-day sequence.

Data readiness#

  1. Import master data: locations (bulk import), products, vendors, customers and merchants. Spot-check code uniqueness — location codes must be unique per organization and warehouse.
  2. Opening inventory: enter it with the inventory import, or run one full count (full scope, up to 5000 lines) and approve + post the variances.
  3. Reconcile: the inventory balance in Docklify must match the old system and a physical spot count before you switch over.

Accounts and permissions#

  • Permissions have three dimensions: app access × feature permissions × data scope. Menus render dynamically by permission — users only see what they can use.
  • Current phase is lenient by design (login + organization membership grants access; fine-grained permissions are configured later). Before go-live, confirm every employee is bound to the correct organization and profile.
  • Confirm special permission points separately: inventory adjustment (wms.inventory_adjust) and wave release (wms.dispatch.create).

Printing and devices#

  • Pallet labels: confirm LPN barcodes print correctly from desktop. Print at least one test pallet end to end.
  • Location and product barcodes: print and post location codes, then test-scan every area with both the mobile app and handheld scanners.
  • Network: the warehouse needs Wi-Fi coverage in receiving and picking areas — the mobile apps are online-only.

Counts and cutover-day steps#

  1. The day before: after the old system stops operating, run a cycle or full count. Approve the variances, then post them — the location locks release automatically.
  2. Cutover morning: confirm no unfinished count tasks are locking locations; verify opening inventory one more time.
  3. Dry run: walk one complete order through the system — receive → pick → ship (or purchase → receive → ship) — and confirm the documents and inventory ledger look right.
  4. Go live: set the old system to read-only and hand operations to Docklify. Reconcile the inventory balance daily for the first week.
Dry run one complete order before switching operations to Docklify
An unfinished count task locks every location it covers — adjustments, moves and replenishment are all blocked there. Do not run a full count and live operations in the same window; sequence counts before operations on cutover day.
